Who Am I?

Who am I?

Irreverent Contradiction

I am eider
Lifted on fragile breath,
A timid whisper.
~
A tempest,
Driver of internal storms,
Brutal in belief.
Feet of stone.
Heart in epic realms.

Dancer
In Aphrodite’s temple
Where ageless fires rage.
Eternal tender
Of love’s flame.
Pulsing swirl of liquid light.
~
A watcher
In frigid caverns
Beneath a buried age
Of pensive need.

I am Erato,
On Pointe I spun
Robed in joy.
Tumbled from a height
Beyond measure.
Spilled and left
Unsanctified.
~
A worshipper
Bathed in the light
Of a ceaseless moon,
Seen or unseen.
Burned
By faith’s constancy.

A boundless sea,
Undulating,
Unfathomable,
Drowningly deep,
Abysmal.
~
A superficial stream,
Singing over sand
And sun splashed rock.
A rivulet
In time’s tranquil run.

Sailor on the cusp of hope.
Plodder on the shore of reconcile.

Dreams, old and new
That shoot across
A million eons
Singe my fingertips.
