Peace and Tranquility

Peace and tranquility all around,
Not a whisper or murmur to be found.
I have come to settle in a new homeland,
Where there is no one to smile or shake my hand.
I smile at a stranger, who thinks I’m mad,
Little do they know I’m very sad.
As a little dog stops to pause,
"Hello" I say, "give me your paw".
His owner oblivious to me feeling alone,
His not so dumb animal senses forlorn.
A blanket of colors pass by my eyes,
Disillusionment is no surprise.
Is there anyone out there that feels the same?
Or is it my self-pity I have to blame?
Spare a thought for the girl in the park,
For behind that face, lies a lonely heart.
